“Come to me, all who are weary, and I will give you rest.”
-Matthew 11:28
God wants us to enter into His rest. His rest is perfect as He is perfect. He wants us to drop what we are doing and let Him restore us, so we are able to do better! He does not want us to constantly be moving. That is something I really need to learn. Because it is human nature to want to do everything. We want to solve all the problems. But we have a perfect Healer, Consoler, Defender, and safe Refuge. He will complete what we cannot, and He will fight our battles for us. He will take over where we leave off.
How great that we do not have to take on what we thought we had to! We are His children, and He treats us as children. Life is not quiet as hard as we make it out to be! We do not have to “save the world”, or fix everything. God will do that! We only need to do what He requires of us to do. If we listen to His spirit, he will show us who needs us this day, who He wants us to bless, encourage and help. The rest of the people are not our responsibility, they are His or someone else’s!
Sometimes, it is hard to sleep because all that we have to do tomorrow is racing through our minds. In Matthew 6, Jesus basically told us we are being silly by worrying about tomorrow, “because tomorrow has enough worries of its own” (Matthew 6:34). We should go to sleep, leaving off where we ended tonight. In the morning, God will show us more of what we need to do. God is not a slave driver! We are slaves to righteousness, not to our jobs or the world! We are not even of the world when we are in Christ! We are sons and daughters of the King and He wants to give us HIS rest, so why not take it? All of His gifts are perfect (James 1:17). We all need rest, why not Gods perfect rest, that He offers to all who are weary?
DEAR LORD-PLEASE REMINDS US THAT THE BEST KIND OF REST IS THE KIND THAT COMES FROM YOU. THAT YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL GIFT OF REST THAT REFRESHES, RENEWS AND RESTORE US, IN JESUS NAME,
AMEN
