If I am going to learn anything in this world, I must learn that God will take away. God will take away everything that I love if he has to, not saying he would, but he might.
Take the story of Job for example. He had everything and God took it away. Why did he? To show his glory. And that's it. We are made to give honor and glory to our God who created us, their is no other purpose! And I think we Christians are missing the point about being Christians. It's not about us! Yes, yes it may be shocking for some of you but this Christian life isn't about us! If you want to live your life how you want to then maybe you should rethink being a Christian.
Jesus died and rose again so that we could die to ourselve and rise again in Him. That means that he has us, we are his and ONLY his! Our life has one purpose and one purpose only, that is to do the will of God.
"You yourselves are a case study of what he does. At one time you all had your backs turned to God, thinking rebellious thoughts of him, giving him trouble every chance you got. But now, by giving himself completely at the Cross, actually dying for you, Christ brought you over to God's side and put your lives together, whole and holy in his presence. You don't walk away from a gift like that! You stay grounded and steady in that bond of trust, constantly tuned in to the Message, careful not to be distracted or diverted. There is no other Message—just this one. Every creature under heaven gets this same Message. I, Paul, am a messenger of this Message." - Colossians 1:21-23 (The Message)
I believe a lot of times we become a Christian and right away we are looking for ways to please ourselves and we are wanting God to bless us with worldlly things when most likely God is not going to do that. I'm not saying he won't bless us because he will! But the blessings that he does give you are for the use to further the Kingdom of Heaven. It has taken me so long it seems to understand this. To understand the fact that "I am not my own". So why live like it?
"If we are out of our mind, it is for the sake of God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." - 2 Corinthians 5:13-15 (New International Version)
We sing songs about how mighty and powerful God is, but we don't treat him this way. We push God to back of our minds so that we can do what we want to do.
I pray this isn't me. I pray that if I become this lost and naive that God would strike me dead! Why would I want to travel down a road that for years I was looking for a way off!?!?! Why are we putting on our old skins?? Why are we parading around in a dead body? Christ gave you life and tons of it! Why are we making a mockery of his death by following our own road?
I died January 21, 2001 and Christ rose up in me and took control. My life is no longer mine.
The greatest thing God ever took away from me, was me.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
