THE ROCK
The Rock sits high upon the hill
We barely notice, it sits so still.
As we scan the horizon with our eyes,
We don’t take notice of where the Rock lies.
But wait, the darkness is all around;
It grows quiet and we don’t hear a sound.
All of a sudden, a great gust of wind,
And large drops of rain to bathe us in.
The storm grows quickly out of control;
Lightning pierces the sky and shakes our soul.
We run for cover, but there is none to fill
Our need, ‘til we come to the Rock on the hill.
As we reach that great rock and duck inside
The cleft, we see it’s a great place to hide.
The storm passes swiftly, fury in its’ path;
But, no greater shelter did we ever hath.
We crawl out now to see the sun beaming through
And go on our way, enjoying the view.
We never said “Thank you” to the Rock on the hill
But, if we find time tomorrow, we will.
