Every day I can look out from my window and see the buildings across the street. On the very top ledge, against the sky is what I call the "Watchmen". These Watchmen line up next to each other and look out over the street and city below. At times there are close to 30 some of them all surveying the landscape. At times, they stir, and fly up, then come back to the ledge.
These Watchmen remind me of the duties that those in the church have today. We are to be lights, watchmen, prophets, teachers, and followers of Christ. We are to alert people of dangers, warn them what is coming, exhort them to repent and seek the Lord, and we are also to testify of Christ in all His fullness.
1 Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 ¶Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 ¶Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
We as believers should know what time it is. The season we are in, should be no surprise to you. The fact we are in the last days, should make you look to the Lord and His soon return. Even if he delays his coming a bit, yet, your heart should be set upon him. As followers, we are of the day, lightened by the Holy Spirit, who quickens the Word of God to our spirit and heart. We know Him who has saved us. We know of His love, mercy, and touch. Many of us know His voice, as we hear it daily. Others have not listened for His voice in a long time. It is the church who should be strong in this day. It is the blood washed believer that needs to stand straight and eye the future with confidence.
The Lord saved you and I. He is still Lord, still in charge, and prophecies have yet to be fulfilled. It may get a whole lot worse. So today, look to your Lord and ask Him to examine your heart. See if you have confidence in the Lord. Make sure you have no hidden un confessed sins. Make sure you will be able to stand on the Lords Day. The times we live in demand tough people who walk in the Love of the Lord. This is not a namby-pamby faith. This is a tough faith that faces the gates of hell with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a faith that eyes the forces of hell and lifts the shield of faith. It is a faith that rescues the dying and perishing. It is a faith that loves, yet will warn and exhort. It is a faith that speaks against profane teachings and ungodliness in the churches. It is a faith that does not relent in retreat.
Move forward oh Believer, The Lord is your standard and banner. His is the way of the Cross. This way is not for the weak, it is for those who will stand up and be counted for the Lord. It is for those who will look to move on the territory of the enemy so that souls can be rescued. Move on Oh church, Oh believer. Yours is not a fight for denominational titles, secular achievements, or the way of the carnal gospel. Yours is the fight for the Christ, the Messiah, who has save you and bought you with His blood. Yours is the inheritance of eternal life. Yours is an inheritance which cannot be stolen, taken, or tarnished. Move on Oh believer; move on, in faith, in the Lord, for all eternity. Move on.
