Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." Luke 24:25-27
A Bible lesson taught by the Christ of the Bible. What an occasion that must have been! He desired that the understanding of those who walked with him be opened. He knew that when they viewed the "larger picture", then the heartbreak and disappointment over the events of the day would be changed to wonder.
They walked in dejected sadness until he joined them and wrapped them in his glorious Word. He knew that their despair had no grounds, and it was their "slowness of heart to believe" that kept them in that tight place.
How freed their hearts must have been when they realized that they had been walking with the One that they had so recently mourned. So, cheer up, weary pilgrims, there is a larger purpose being fulfilled here; wipe the tears from your eyes and gaze in awe at what the eyes of faith can reveal.
