Homeless in DC 2

Blue Blanket

Bright Blue Blanket
Always neat
On the ground
Under the bridge
By a busy highway
Never occupied

Early morning-late evening
Empty bed
Phantom homeless

Today
Gallon bottle of water beside
Blue blanket

Moved today
Higher up
Under bridge
Still neat
Safer territory
Perhaps
A new home

Month after month
The years go by
Empty
Blue blanket
Until
One day
She’s there
Shocking
Young in
Middle years
Slim
Attractive
Clean

Someone’s daughter
and
a child of God.
