You were with me at my worst,
When I went mad, You saw it first,
You cried out when my heart burst
in sorrow-
You were there.
You witnessed me as time stood still,
As evil went in for the kill,
And broke what was left of my will-
You felt and saw it all.
You sensed no hope, no time nor space,
You layed me down and took my place,
And in that act of saving grace-
and mercy-
You took Your life.
You went into that darkened place,
That I deserved, but couldn't face,
My hell is gone without a trace
at all-
For You were there.
