WHO AM I?
The glowing glimmer of soft candle light,
The shining shimmer of tinsel on boughs of pine,
The flicker of lights, multi-colored, so bright,
The twinkle of children's eyes blinking with anticipation
The tinkling of the silver bells,
Snowflakes, pure and white, gently falling to Earth,
Clinging to each tiny twig, reflecting diamonds from the sun's brilliant rays.
Emanating from the hearth, the crackling sound of the blazing fire, warmly glowing into the night.
Lilting voices of cheerful carolers, carried along with the song of the wind,
Upward they float through mounds of cottony clouds,
To the heavens where angels dance with glee.
Poinsettias so red, holly so green, pine cones, mistletoe, wassail and eggnog;
The tinkling of cash registers filled with coins,
The groaning of people filled with baked goods,
The parties, the revelers filled with drink.
The Nativity scene shoved under the tree
by packages ornately wrapped;
Tempers flaring, patience all gone;
Pushing, shoving, grabbing, hording.
A town so small, a night so dark,
A wind so cold, a donkey so tired,
An inn so full, a stable so bare,
A man so alone, a maiden so pained,
The lowing of cattle, the bleating of sheep,
Join the wail of a baby so small --
