In the beginning I layed the foundations of the earth, the heavens were the work of my hands. I knew you before I formed you in the womb, the day you were born the heavens rejoiced. As a child I fed you and watch you grow, when you stumbled and fell, I picked you up and nursed you. I held you in My arms, as the scars of your wounds disappeared. I was there when you took your first steps; you had everyone’s attention in the heavens. I was there when you lost your first tooth, you didn’t understand it, but I replaced it with another. I was there when you rode your first bicycle, when you fell, I would brush you off and send you on your way again.
I was there on your first day of school, you were so frightened, I whispered in your heart that everything was going to be alright, and held your hand all day. I was there when you were dedicated back to Me in the Sunday service, and the angels sang a new song. I was there when you went on your first date, rejoicing in your beauty. I was there when you graduated from school and move from your parent’s home, as I encamped My holy angels to protect you. I was there when you married your spouse, witnessing this lifelong covenant. The tears that you shed, I caught them and keep them in a special place. I was there when with all your heart you chose Me as your Savior, as you went under water and came up new.
I was there when your first child was born, it looked just like Me. I was there through your many disappointments, growing you stronger in your faith. I was there as your parent’s passed from the natural, as I called them home. I was there to receive the breath of life from them in the same way I gave it. Who am I?
I am who I am
I am the same yesterday, today, and forever.
I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Jos 1:5)
We thank you for being our I am, and for
always being there, forgive us for not always
seeing you in the days of our troubles. You know
us better than we know ourselves, open the eyes
of our hearts Lord, where we can see You, and make
our ears sensitive to your voice.
In Jesus name, amen
