Prayers
How is your prayer life? Do you pray everyday, and how long do you pray? Many Christians are found not to pray, but only when their needs arises. How are we taking our heavenly Father? A genie to answer our prayers? When we need Him, we cry out to Him, and when everything is alright, we forget about Him. Should this be the attitude towards our heavenly Father in our prayer life?
How then can we grow in intimacy with Christ through prayer? First, we must know that we belong to Him and we need an unbroken ‘on line’ prayer with the Lord all the time. 1 Thess 5:17. We are admonished to pray unceasingly. Secondly, know that we can only get to know God better through our prayer life. As we tell Him everything, we understand where He is coming at with our problems and needs. We can experience and see our God answer our prayers and we can get to know His character better.
Thirdly, prayer is being dependent on God. We are telling Him that we need Him and without Him we can accomplish nothing. We need the overflowing of the living water that flows from the throne room of God and meet us just where we are at. We need His refreshing touch and His presence to help us with our needs and circumstances.
The Lord wants us to cry out to Him diligently and intimately, as this is where He will meet our needs. We see in Luke 18 a woman came boldly and persistently to the unjust judge for her needs, that even though the judge was unwilling to meet her needs, but as she consistently goes to him, he soon vindicated her with her problem. Likewise for our heavenly Father, will He not meet our needs if we go to Him persistently and consistently without wavering? Our cries pleased Him and He wants His children to look upon Him for all of our needs.
How would you like your prayer life to be? Spend your time consistently with Him everyday and you will get the habit of wanting to be in His presence all the time. It is through cultivating our habits in meeting Him everyday that we want to spend more time with Him daily. As we spend intimate time with Him daily, God will change our lives and lead and direct us to the destiny that He has for us. The key is, look to Him and be in love with Him everyday, that you will so desire Him that you want to spend all your time with Him. This is attainable if we are serious about our prayer life. Look to Him and He will guide us.
