I wrote this poem for a friend who recently lost his mom. She was a kind christian with a beautiful smile. I pray that the words may bring some comfort to someone else dealing with loss.
God’s greatest gifts cannot be marked by time or by space
They go on and on don’t you know
When he gave her the gift of a warm embrace
She used it to let the love flow
God’s greatest gifts cannot be marked by time or by space
They live in memory there is no denying
The way that beautiful smile would show on her face
Like a star twinkling without even trying
God’s greatest gifts cannot be marked by time or by space
They are endless just like his creation
When he gave her the gift of the kindness of words
She spoke them without hesitation
God’s greatest gifts are veiled to the eyes
But can be felt like the heat of the sun
Her smile her kindness her warm embrace
are still here for each and everyone
This very day this very second they reach down from heaven above
Right through your mind and straight to your heart
Continues this mother’s love
