A WELL FOR THE HOUSE
Most houses in my place of birth depend on well water for supply of water into their homes. So, when we wanted to start the plumbing work of our family house, we had to employ three men from the northern part of the country – it was said that the northerners were very good at digging wells- to dig the well for us.
The men dug for more than five days before they could reach the bed of water beneath the earth’s surface. When they finally got to the bed of water, they let down a water pumping machine into the well to pump the first flow of water out, but the machine went with the water that flowed beneath. A well ring also disappeared when it was let down. These two items were quite expensive to purchase.
Similarly, everyone has the opportunity to access the rivers of God’s love, but you needn’t dig too far or too long before you get to the bed of water of God’s love. All you need do is ask to be God’s child, yield to him and leave him to settle the rest with your co-operation.
The well ring and pumping machine could be compared to old habits and characters that you’ve become addicted to and are very precious to you- you find it difficult to do away with. If you just surrender and give it to God, He’s love‘ll make ‘em all disappear. You gotta trust God.
