THE HEDGE

Oh saint, the strength of the Lord resides in you,

your security and safeguard against life's pressures.

The thorny fence of trials is a blessing,

the power of God your treasure.

Far worse than the temporary barb that pricks,

is when the Lord grants you a pain free life.

Oh, to hear those blessed words of Christ:

My grace is sufficient for you,

for my power is made perfect in weakness.

Oh, dear saint, be content with a life of strife,

for when you are weak, then you are strong!

Too many are living a "pain-free life", and have not learned to embrace the pain. There is much truth in your poem.
