Squiggle and Star were lost; they could not find their way
It was getting dark and Squiggle said, "I know what to do – Pray"
Star asked “pray, what on earth does that mean?”
“It is when you talk to God, A friend you have never seen”
Star said, “A friend you can’t see, doesn’t sound real to me
How did you meet God, if He is someone you can’t even see"
"My mom told me about Him and I go to church on Sunday’s
To learn more about Him and to learn about His ways"
"If you can’t see him, how do you know he is there?"
"Because I spend time with him: I talk to him in prayer"
"Does he ever talk back, this unseen friend?"
"Sometimes thru others, a message he sends."
"He helps me when I need it, but He has a few simple rules to obey"
"To love him and others, spend time thinking about him and pray"
"Sunday is when He and I spend the most time, I in thought and prayer"
"That is how I learned that though we can’t see Him, He is everywhere"
"He is here with us now in this dark unknown place"
"To believe what you can’t even see, that is called faith"
"Ok" said Star because she did not know what else to do
Squiggle prayed “God” he said “I leave it up to you”
“We don’t know where we are, we don’t know where to go”
“Please help us find our way home; You will help us I know”
“You have helped me before, and I ask your help again”
“Help me now Dear God, just as you helped me then”
"Listen" said Star, "did you hear something call out"
They heard it clearer now and they both began to shout
"Here, we are here, Please find us, Help, Help"
Squiggles dog, Smarty, ran to them with a Yelp
"You found us, you found us, I know God showed you where"
Star thanked her new friend God, who she never even knew was there
And as Smarty led them safely through the dark to home
She wondered about, God, this friend that she had never known
"Squiggle, can I come with you on Sunday, to the church I mean?"
"I want to know more about this friend who answers without being seen"
"Oh yes," said Squiggle "for the Sabbath is a holy day, God long ago set aside"
"For us to rest and thank him, for our world so big and wide"
"He made everything you know, all that we now smell, touch and see"
"He made the flowers, stars, every animal, from the whale to the honey bee"
"He made a day for us to get to know Him so our friendship will grow"
"Worship Him on Sunday, for this unseen friend is the One you need to know"
