Greetings, and welcome to this weeks verse of the week!! And welcome to out 13 part series on the wonderful book of Hebrews! I will try and do one verse from each chapter, and maybe more if I feel the need to. This weeks verse is from chapter one, about how things change, but our God never changes......

"You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be change, but you remain the same, and your years will never end."

Hebrews 1:12

Things change in life all of the time. Even my 18 month old babies(or younger) have been going through a lot of changes, talking more, some learning to walk recently, some just moved to the toddler class after being in the baby class. So even in less then two years, a person goes through a lot! And sometimes, in the case of my babies, there are tears! We have one young man who just started coming to school in august, he was in the baby room, and now he moved to the toddler room. He cried when he 1st came here, but adjusted, and now he is going to toddlers and he cries there, because he doesn't know his new teachers, or any of the kids! Change knows no age!! And for adults, just like with the babies, there are tears. But one thing never changes-GODS UNFAILING LOVE!! He is the SAME today, yesterday, tomorrow and FOREVER!
Hebrews one, like a lot of hebrews, talks about Jesus as the new high preist. And not just the new high priest, but the permanent high preist! Back in biblical times, they changed high preist a lot. Because, well, the preist were humans and they died, eventually. If you would ask the average guys opinion about their high preist back in those days, they probably would have said that there are some things they liked about this man, and somethings they didn't. Because this man was just that, a mere man. Ask us, as believers what we think of our NEW high preist, Jesus, and we have one answer-HE IS AWESOME. NO DOUBT! And He is the High Preist FOREVER! He is God in Heaven and that will not change. Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, petitioning for us, and our sins all the time. 24/7!
I think most of you reading this know this, but lets define what a high preist did. Back in those times, he was a man appointed to attone for the sins of his people. He sacrificed animals to God as well as sacrificing for his own sins. Now we have Jesus, the perfect spotless lamb, and the great high preist who "forever lives and pleads for us" on our behalf.
Later on in Hebrews, we will be talking about one of my favourite verses-Hebrews 4:15. This talks about how we do not have a high preist who cannot symphathise with our weakness because He too, has been tempted in every way. We will talk about how all high preists are appointed by God and not by man. The new covenant that covered the old, and a lot of other exciting and informative words from God himself, from His heart to ours!
So stay tuned for more words of wisdom from the Holy Spirit. ANd this week, remember, our GOD never changes! Life has a lot of ups, downs, twists, turns, and more, but the Lord is always in control, He is the rock which we can lean on, that will never move.

God bless you all,
