“Oh Lord, Is there some way that will show this granddaughter that she is heading down a road that can only lead to problems later on?” Beverly Bronwell prayed as she was getting dinner on the table. She had a special relationship with this first grandchild and her heart ached seeing the black clothing and body piercing that had been taking place over the past few months. Mia was a beautiful, multi-talented girl who had done some very good paintings she had shared with her grandmother.
“Grandma! What are you doing? I didn’t paint that picture for you to use for a hot mat! Mia shrieked as Beverly placed the painted canvas on the table.
“Of course you didn’t. This beautiful pink rose was intended for the special purpose of being framed to hang on my wall.” Beverly picked up the painting and put her arm around Mia. “I just want you to see in a small way what God must feel when he sees His special creations used in inappropriate ways.
Mia hung her head and very quietly said, “Grandma, I don’t want to hurt you but I’m not sure I even believe in God anymore.”
“Sweetie, you may not believe in God but He believes in you and He has a special plan for your life.” Beverly thought it best to let her granddaughter ponder those words for now.
As Beverly prepared for bed that evening, she prayed again. “Lord, I don’t know if I planted the seed or watered it with Mia tonight, but I pray that the words of my mouth were acceptable in your sight.” Beverly would continue to pray for her special granddaughter and try to set a Godly example for His special creation.
