Proverbs 24:16
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
There was a time in my life that when I messed up (and there were many) I would get a spanking! Mom and dad would administer the punishment according to the mess up. There was hardly a mess up that they didn’t know about, and there was hardly a mess up that I didn’t get a spanking for.
With all the spankings I received there was something that mom and dad always showed me – LOVE! Of course as a kid when they would say, ‘this hurts me more than it hurts you,’ never made much sense. As I grew older and had children of my own, I began to understand the concept at a deeper level, and understood that mom and dads correction was simply defined as LOVE.
Another level of this correction was the simple fact that it didn’t matter how much I had messed up – regardless of how big the mess up was – they still loved me! They never once turned their backs on me! Oh there was much heartbreak and many disappointments (ok I was a PK, I was a bit of a mess) but through it all they always gave me another chance.
Then the day came when I began a personal journey with God! A relationship was building between He and I and there were many times I messed up (still do – sorry to say)! One of the most important things I have learned is that God is A God of Many Chances!
I’ve met many people in life that never knew the love of parents – something happened and the relationship was severed. There was no returning to the womb or the protection of parental love and they have carried this burden through life! Rejection had become the norm – thus to know God on a deep level of A God of Many Chances is rare!
Many have been destroyed and walked away from God because of man-made laws and regulations. I’ve seen it happen – good intentions leaving shattered lives in the wake. Churches have fallen apart because of mistakes made – and it is difficult to accept the failure because we have forgotten or have never known A God of Many Chances!
Regardless of what you have done! Regardless of where you have been! It doesn’t matter what you have said! Your parents may have cut you off and everyone else may have written you off because of your mistakes, but I want to tell you the God we serve is A God of Many Chances!
He waits for you to turn to Him! He longs for you to surrender the hurt and the brokenness. He is there with a hand held out to pick you up! A God of Many Chances!
You say, ‘you have no idea how many times I’ve messed up,’ it doesn’t matter – I’m introducing you to A God of Many Chances!
He wants to heal you in order to reveal to you that He is A God of Many Chances!
God of many chances – oh how thankful we are that You do not cut us off when we mess up! Lord, we are so thankful that You love us enough to turn our mess into a message and we are so thankful that You pick us up, and clean us off and get us back on track! When everyone else writes us off or turns their back – You are always there, giving us another chance!
Lord, there are many reading this today that has been shattered by mistakes! People have walked out of their lives and added to the devastation! Today we come before You for our friends that feel that they’ve messed up one too many times and cannot turn to You! We ask that You make Your presence known in their lives. Lord, we ask that even as they read these words that they feel Your intense love! That they come to know You as A God of Many Chances!
In Your Precious and Holy Name, AMEN!

AMEN AND AMEN! Whew!! I can't even imagine where I'd be today were it not for The God of Many Chances! Hmm... Extended Grace. No wonder He had me write such a series. His grace has been overly extended to me. Just as His mercy has endured through so much muck. It's hardly believable the things He's brought me from. I still stand amazed... even after all these years. And still, today, His mercy and grace extend to me in my mess ups. You'd think we'd have it down to PERFECT living by now. But that wouldn't show us how truly enduring His mercy is... would it? What an awesome God we serve!!!
I can't speak for anyone else, but I sure am glad He is a God of many chances. I've needed every one of them, and will probably need a few more! Great article, as are the other two you posted today. Thanks! Beth
