That phrase is a lie. Can it be “stood”, endured? Yes, by the grace of God, it can.
Sorrow overwhelms me and I cry. Somehow, as I cry, I’m emptied, drained, left wanting. I’m like a fallow field, laid bare, without life. And You, sweet Spirit of God, fill me. You come to me and take my pain, my sorrow, and every tear I cry; and You give me ease. Peace. Comfort. You complete me.
This life, with its heartbreaks, can be overcome, with You.
I can persevere, if I’m standing on the Rock.
When I am weak, You are strong.
You are the Truth, all else is wrong.
God is love, teach me to love.
Lift me up, help me stand.
