In His Time

In His Time

I struggle and chafe and cry aloud,
I search for an exit but there’s no way out.
I call to God, “Please open the door,
I'm in trouble, distress...I can't take anymore.”

Then I wait...impatiently,
Did God hear? Does He see?
But God is silent; the waiting brings pain,
And so I cry -- and cry again.

Fear creeps in to suffocate,
Hope is lost as I contemplate.
Faith is encased in a prison of doubt,
As my heart still cries, “Please, let me out.”

Then over the noise of a heart that pounds,
Comes the whisper of another sound.
A still, small voice -- I strain to hear,
Words that calm my every fear.

“I have a plan...just wait, My child.
It will be revealed in a little while.
Until that time, trust and obey.
I’ll make a way -- yes, I’ll make a way.”

Now fear is gone, replaced by peace
I struggle not, what a sweet relief.
I know I’m safe in the palm of His hand,
On the word of God I boldly stand.

Within His love I’m now at rest,
His plan is good; His way is best.
To heights of joy I now can climb,
He will make a way...in His time.
