I do not have a communicable disease but lately I sure am being treated that way. After a time it gets old and in spite of the fact that I may not be a popular entity in this universe, I have the same freedom of speech as others. My own silence is becoming as annoying as the clanging tongues. Now it's time for mine to clang.
I am a Christian. Not only THAT but I am a Catholic. There. I said it.
Do you know what else I am? I am sick and tired of the Christian bashing that is
reaching a piercing crescendo. It hurts my ears and my heart.
Yes, we have freedom of speech, but there seems to be some misguided thinking that using that freedom to be abusive and hurtful is just the way it should be. One freedom should not infringe upon another. There IS freedom to practice religion...
even Christianity.
It is obvious that some religions are afforded more respect than others. So much for equal rights under the Constitution.
Freedom of speech being used to be hurtful to other Americans is really a low and nasty use of that particular blessing. I wonder if that's what our forefathers had in mind when they created the Constitution. Perhaps they just assumed Americans would be responsible enough to use this right and privilege to make this country a better place.
