The following is taken from one of my sermons, but I thought it significant enough to share with all other members of the Body of Christ.
A Word About 'The Word'
What in the world is wrong with the church of Jesus Christ today? Does anybody have kids in college? Or kids that they have put through college? You spent thousands of dollars on your child's textbooks, right? Suppose, then, that after having spent your hard earned money on those texts, you discovered that your child never took those books to class, nor opened them, but rather always left them behind sitting in some corner of his/her dorm room. Would you not be furious with your child? Well, folks, I have good reason to believe that God is just as furious with His church. Very few people bring their Bibles to church anymore, and God paid a very high price for that Book. His Son came to earth, and died, giving His life's blood that His Word of Truth may go forth. Men have given their lives to translate that Word that all nations and tongues might have a copy; more men and women have given their lives defending it; yet even more gave their lives spreading it far and wide; and many have given their lives smuggling it into the dark corners of the earth where it was forbidden - yet WE have the audacity before a Holy and Righteous God in this nation to have the freedom (at least for now) to carry it anywhere - and we say 'no'!, and like careless children, we choose to leave it behind in the 'dorm rooms' of our houses to gather dust! Do you not think that this displeases our Almighty Father? Then we wonder why we have no power with God or with men!

Well, I'll guess I'll join with you in prayer. We can agree together that our Father,as far as we can tell, has failed in the "work of His hands" and they certainly don't meet our criteria for being sons.
Aren't you glad that His timing with you and I has been impeccable, but somehow He just missed the mark with all our brothers and sisters?
Thanks for placing this article or sermon where so many of us can read it. Your message is so relevant today. We are so careless with what God has given us that we can't even think of the repercussions of our neglect to make the Bible part of our portfolio for church or elsewhere. May God's blessings continue to shine on you.
I fully appreciate the message in this piece. Often I bring my Bible with me when I go places where I know there isn't one ...though now you have encouraged me to do better than that... Thanks for the push in the right direction.Abundant Blessings , Julie
The Bible should be our most read, most carried, and most prized book. It is our instruction manual and our roadmap to Heaven. Thank you for sharing this. Thomas www.dustonthebible.com
Dear Dennis, this article is RIGHT on! God has set forth HIS PLAN in this book and He will show it to us if we take the time to ask Him and to look for it. He said that you will find me, when you seek Me with all your heart, mind and soul. Thank you Dennis for sharing from your heart this MOST timely message.
