Rest thou little Baby
For your time has not yet come
To leave the safety of the womb
And bless your family's home.
Rest a wee bit longer,
So snuggly safe and warm,
Where Mom and God protect thee yet
From every earthly harm.
Soon enough you shall be born
And placed in Mother's arms...
You will know her loving voice
For you've heard it many times
When lost in dreams she spoke to thee,
"I love you, daughter of mine."
You'll feel her tender, beating heart
Held in a warm embrace,
As Dad looks on adoringly
With pride etched on his face.
Another waits to greet thee
With eager, outstretched hands.
She'll be your dear companion...
Your sister, Lindsey Anne.
May your home be filled with happiness,
Your childhood filled with fun.
May your heart be always merry
As you play beneath God's sun.
May your face be graced with smiles,
May your body grow quite strong,
May your heart be kind and gentle
And may laughter be your song!
May you come to know your Father,
By His Hand may you be blest.
May you trust His love and mercy,
May you live within His rest.
May life's trials teach you patience
As your tears help make you strong.
May life's heartaches give you wisdom
To choose right and shun the wrong.
Yes! a world of wonder lies ahead,
Such joys to learn and know!
But rest my wee granddaughter...
I don't mean to rush you so.
Just rest now little Baby
For your time has not yet come
To leave the safety of the womb
And bless your family's home.
This was written for my dear daughter-in-law as she awaited the birth of Baby. Baby is now 5 yrs. old and is named Haley Renee Wright.

What a sweet little poem for your granddaugher! I enjoyed this very much. When my daughter was pregnant with her first little girl she was in a car wreck and almost lost the baby. But God's mercy proved itself once again. She was born beautiful and healthy four months later, right on time! In Christ's Love,
Julia
What a beautiful prayer. A blessing to read. It ministered peace.

This is a sweet little song to your granddaughter. How privileged she is to have a loving family to come into. I saw a wee baby the other day and was reminded how tender and tiny a newborn is. I never had children of my own, but I can enjoy others' babies.
