MY PINK SKIRT
My father is very fond of his children, but he's fond of me the most because I'm his only Daughter. He buys things for us whenever he goes out on any trip, but my things are usually special, beautiful and colourful.
During one Christmas vacation, three of my cousins came to spend the holidays with us. My father as usual had travel on one of his business trips, this time to the Caribbean Islands. As his usual manner, he bought presents for us all besides our Christmas gift. Mine was the most special of all the gifts, he bought me a beautiful Caribbean skirt, it was baby-pink in colour, and it had stripes of dark pink all over it. The skirt was just my perfect size and the band was made of elastic.
When he gave it to me, my cousins wanted to try it on, but they were bigger and fatter than me, so I didn't allow them try it on. But they continued pestering me, so I obliged, I let them try it on. They even went to the extent of putting the skirt on turn by turn for the Christmas parties that were organized on our street.
When they were through with the skirt, its elastic band had worn out. Then they were no longer interested in wearing the skirt or even admiring it. They termed it 'useless'.
When I told my Dad about it, he simply told me to forgive them, but that didn't mend my skirt. This pink skirt is just like the Patience God gives us when we become his children. As God's children, we are bound to meet with people who will want to take us for granted and try out our patience until it's worn out.
As soon as our patience is worn out, they make fun of us and term us 'useless' just like the pink skirt became useless & worn out after it had been over used.
Also, just like I was told to forgive my cousins, our father in Heaven expects us to forgive those that have wronged us and worn out our patience. After forgiving them, we'll now be able to think of a better way of bringing this people to Christ.
