Thoughts on Proverbs 1

We had a study on Proverbs a few months ago.

Proverbs is so full of meaning to all generations of life, and we can all learn from the intense wisdom of every one of them.

Here are the brief notes i made as we read through a chapter each week.It seems a good idea to focus on one chapter at a time, so that it can be considered and closely studied.

Notes on Proverbs Chapter 1:

Fear of God brings obedience to listen when He is speaking to us- to heed warnings, take seriously and understand the reality of the importance of it all.

Wisdom gradually comes as we realise- through obedience, that we can do nothing without Him, aswell as realising our true place.

Humility is a healthy part of wisdom, and necessary if we want to listen and obey without time wasting pride.

To fear God, is perhaps to be sharply aware of exactly who He is, and how mighty He is in power and love.God told us not to fear, but the only true fear that is real, and we need to have is fear of God, who makes and takes life- the eternal judge of our soul's destiny- a frightening thought indeed, but also a great relief that He is also infinately loving.

Sometimes, it is too easy to ignore the eager offer of wisdom when we try to rely on our own strength, or allow thoughts and worries to clam us up and stress us out.

Wisdom can be so loud when we tune into it, but using it in practice, takes practice, and we need to practice continually.

We need to lean on God for our answers rather than allowing ourselves to get lost in our own world or 'the world' and forget God entirely.

End of my notes for Proberbs chapter 1

Sarah, thanks for your review. I loved reading this...do you realise the hearts that love the Lord all feel the same? Sounds the same? It is such a comforting feeling when you read someone's work and they sound like you. Keep sharing what you learn so that we all can grow by learning from another as led by the Lord Jesus and our Father. I love Proverbs, it is such a wonderful book of wisdom. You may like to read one I wrote called Honour God and be blessed beyond expectation. Rise up Sister in the Lord higher and higher..the harvest is rich.....we are called to be powerful workers for and in the King. God bless
