At some point in our lives, everyone at some time or another has
become acquainted with the kool-ade pops. You know the ones that mom
would throw in the freezer and low and behold hours later would have
home made pop cycles. Many times it would take much longer, if she
let us know that they were there. We would open that freezer door so
much, take them out and see if the stick was beginning to stick
inside them, would seem like a lifetime passed before that thin
layer of ice would begin to form in them. I remember there being
times asking if the freezer had broken because they were not
freezing, and mom saying just let them be they will be ok. It didn't
matter how often they were made, we always had to open the door and
check on them, prolonging the process.
Prayer is much like those kool-ade pops. We place our request in the very capable hands of GOD, only to run out and interfere with what HE is doing. Many times removing it from HIS hands trying to speed things up, ultimately we delay HIS responses, and we delay the completion of HIS works. Then we begin to pray and give it back to HIM, many times we feel rejected, feel like something is broken with GOD, that our request has fallen on deaf ears. When the lack of results, usually comes from our inability to just let GOD, be GOD. Our constant meddling is like the constant fanning of the freezer door eagerly anticipating the frozen pop cycles completion, causing us to think that there is no progress being made.
See when we lift up prayer to our FATHER, HE never promised that we would see each detail being completed, or that prayer would be answered in five minutes. However, HE did promise that we must have patience and wait upon HIM. HE never promised that the process would be in a manner that we want it to be done, HE did promise that HIS will, will be done. What is HIS will in this matter or that matter, read, study, meditate and pray upon HIS WORD, HIS WORD is full of HIS will.
Sometimes our answers seem so slow in coming because GOD wants us to see it is not about us, that yes HE wants to supply each of us with everything we have need of, not so that we would have food on the table, not so a loved on will be saved, not so resources will come abundantly, but that HIS glory and HIS glory alone be lifted up.
When we pray with selfish motives or with any other purpose than lifting the glory of GOD and all HE has done, then we are placing our kool-ade pops in the refrigerator instead of the freezer. Let us take prayer for a loved one as an example, GOD never promised to save those we love, so our prayers should not be hinged on that circumstance. HE did say that it is HIS will that none be lost, that all things are created for HIS glory and HIS will alone, and this is how we are to pray. Remember the LORDS prayer, thy will be done oh LORD thy will be done.
I pray that each person reading this today, prayerfully seek our GOD and ask HIM to reveal to us the practical side of our walks with HIM and our prayer lives, that the wisdom HE has promised would over flow us and cause HIS glory to be seen in us and all around the globe, in the lives of all people. That HE would cause a light to shine that prayer is best answered when we trust in HIM, when we know that we know HE has spoken to us and has revealed to us HIS will in our lives. That it is not for our personal gain, it is for HIS glory being lifted to the masses.Amen
