Custer had stood strong
Or Key had never penned that song
What if…
Hitler had not died
Or freedom had never been tried
What if…
No one had signed that Constitution
Or Einstein had been placed in an institution
What if…
The Wright’s were never intrigued by flight
Or Lincoln had avoided that fateful night
What if…
New York had never had a baseball team
Or Martin Luther King Jr. had not had his dream
What if…
We had never been to space
Or we had given up in the midst of the race
What if…
No child had ever been told
Of the good and bad of the days of old
What if…
History was never made
Or music had never been played
What if…
We allowed our school children to pray
Or taught them to be thankful each and every day
What if…
We simply chose to forget the past
Could we then learn any lesson that would ever last?
