"Show me your ways O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:4-5
This was a beautiful prayer by the psalmist. Its a good prayer to pray each morning, because by seeking Him in the morning, we can be prepared for the rest of the day. So many things can grab our attention these days. It is getting easier than ever to get distracted, as if we didn't get distracted enough already. There are so many teachings from people. Some are christians, some claim to be, and some are not, but they want to convince us that they are right and to believe them. Our heart and minds often get pulled in so many directions.
The best way to stand firm in the truth is to ask God to show us His ways. Its not just enough to go to church or bible study, or to even read the bible. Prayer to God to show us His truth is the most important way to keep from getting confused by all that we read, hear, and see. His truth in our hearts will prevent us from going astray.
So many people put their hope in worldly things. Other people, the future, their finances, their jobs, their children....to name a few. The only one who can truly provide that unfailing hope for us in the Lord. All other things fail because they are temporary, and fallable. No other is perfect besides God, our Father, Creator, Saviour and Friend. He provides that steadfast truth that keeps us going, and standing firm in what we believe. Without God, there is nothing else to have faith in, no one else to trust.
When you wake up tomorrow morning, praise God. Ask Him for His wisdom and proclaim that your trust is in Him all day long! Thank Him for being your saviour, and go about the day trusting His will be done!
