Matthew 24:42
Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come
But know this that if the Goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up
Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Luke 12:39
And this know, that if the Goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through
Be ye therefore ready also; for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not
The Goodman of the house, what do they know? The Goodman of the house is the Pastor. God has given us Pastors after his heart. The Goodman searches for the heart of God concerning himself as well as the people he presides over. The Goodman of the house watches for the sheep. Ezekiel 33:7, So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
He has been called to:
Preach, preach the word of God to the sheep that he leads
Restore the sheep to the Lord
Evict thoughts that are evil
Articulate, utter clearly, capable of speech
Complete all assignment, cherish God and his people
Humbly submit to God’s holy word, not high minded
Elevating the Lord that he may draw men unto him
Rescued from sin, reach, rescues to deliverance
The Pastor watch, are full of wisdom, and they hate worldliness. They are articulators of the gospel clearly pronouncing distinctly God word, giving clarity. Other than being called the Pastor, he is the Shepherd, the Minister, or the Clergyman. The Shepherd is a sheepherder and the Minister attends or assists in the ministry, God’s service.
A Pastor is one that keeps the sheep that the other sheep begat by ministering the Word, attending to the needs of the sheep, and rendering service by the carrying our of God’s Ordinances. He builds the sheep up spiritually and helps them to be all that they can be spiritually and naturally. Because of the job they have most times they are accused of getting into the members business. It’s their job to watch for the soul of the sheep, as he must give an account for your soul and you do not want their watch to be one of grief. They watch and pray for you, that you enter not into temptation. The Pastor knows the state of his sheep whether or not they are operating out of flesh or spirit, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. They try all they know how to warn you that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He is after your soul.
The Goodman or Pastor knows these things because they are the head of the spiritual house that God presides over and God knows all things. They watch so that they can warn you when the thief may come. They have foreknowledge otherwise the house would be broken up. It is the sheep responsibility to just hear and obey the Word, fall under leadership, and live what they are taught. The sheep are to take heed, watch, and pray also because the sheep do not know the hour that the Lord will come either. Jesus took a journey and he gave authority tot his servants to keep the house and to every man his work for they would know not the hour that the master of the house would come. It may be in the evening, at midnight, at the cockcrowing, or in the morning, just do not let him find you sleeping. Let your loins be girded about and your lamps full. Your lights also should shine as well as burn, and you likened unto men that wait for their bride, so you wait on the Lord. So when he knocks, you will be ready to come immediately. You are called blessed servants because whom the Lord come and find you watching he shall gird himself to make them all sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them whether he find them in the first, second, or third watch.
