This is the follow up to the groups 2003 Grammy nominated release, "Unclassified." What you'll find on it is a mixture of gospel, r&b, rock funk and blues.
Head band member Robert Randolph shows his talents off with his steel pedal guitar playing.
Robert was named one of the 'top 100 guitarist of all time' by Rolling Stone magazine.
The CD starts-off upbeat with the funk infused song, "Ain't Nothing Wrong With That." A song that deals with the power of music to pull people from different backgrounds together.
The CD also features a nicely done rendition of the Kansas classic, "Jesus Is Just Alright With Me" that features Eric Clapton.
Besides Clapton you'll also find guest artist LeeLa James on the song, "Stronger," along with Dave Matthews and Leroi Moore on the track, "Love Is The Only Way."
This release is chocked full of good music and lyrics. The only thing I really missed on it was an 6-8 minutes instrumental type song where Robert and the rest of the band really cut loose.
They came close with the almost instrumental track, "Thankful N' Thoughtful." They just needed to pump it up a notch and really let it rip with their skilled musical talents.
This band has been able over the years to cross the line that often separates the Christian and secular markets. This release should continue that feat for the band with its rock solid musical effort.
