All through out my life God has used several methods of speaking directly to my heart, always seeming to know exactly what I was concerned about at the time and always sending me a message that would speak directly to the very thing I was worried about. This may sound a little crazy, but one of the ways God has spoken to me is by signs I see along the road as I make my way through the day. Whether it is a billboard sign on the highway, or an advertising slogan on the side of a truck, the messages always seems to reach me at just the right time. And, more often than not this usually happens during the times that my faith seems to be waning. Although I've never lost my hope and faith in God, it's just that sometimes, I lose site of where I fit in to His Kingdom and how anything I could do would really make a difference for Him in the someone else's life.
For instance, I am currently trying to write a book that I've titled On the Road to Righteousness. The hope of writing the book is to help others be healed by seeing that God is with them no matter where life takes them or where they choose to take themselves. But, writing a book is something I have never done before, so I am struggling with even getting the first chapter written. Then I add to my burden by telling myself, “You can't do it! Your not smart enough to write a book.” If I'm not careful I will actually begin to believe myself and cast multiple shadows of doubt over my own blessing and work for the Lord. Carrying doubt around is hard. Doubt is heavy and can weigh down on your soul so much that you can give up on yourself and God. But God who is rich in mercy, will always come to the rescue when in your heart you are truly seeking to give Him glory.
I was on my way to work one morning with this struggle of writing the book weighing on my mind. As I sat at an intersection waiting for the light to change, there was a white semi-truck in the opposite lane turning at the light I was waiting for. As the semi turned the corner, I noticed the slogan on the side of the truck. Judging by the what it said I guessed the semi must have been carrying fresh produce. But, when I saw the company name I realized that God was trying to encourage me to not give up just yet, but to be patient and wait on Him to produce the book with His grace.
This is what the slogan read: “On The Road to a Healthier America”, and the company name was Tree of Life. How great is our God to put the exact words you need to hear in front of you to let you know He is still with you and the dreams he puts in your heart will someday come to pass. As I passed the semi, I looked up, waved at the driver, and softly said , “Thank you Jesus”, after all, He must have been driving the truck!
Thank you Lord, for once again showing me that you are with me. I love you,
I appreciate what you have shared here and I am amazed at the various ways God talks to us. It teaches me to be alert to His languages. Be encouraged as you write your book and know that God trusts that you can write.
Thanks for leaving a very encouraging comment on my article. Blessings. Eunice
