Souls of the Night

Wandering through pain, see the night unfold in untold stains
Wretched man of earth, scorned, unmoarned, dressed in darkness of night
Hear the whispered pleas of death, moarning souls stranded in night’s embrassing death
Souls of men trapped in the endless game of hate, his eyes filled with pain

Souls of the night, the banquet feast
Tied to chains, the souls of men cry in sleepless misery
Marked by bleeding wounds, the night survives
Drowning out the presence of love, veiling the master of Love
For darkness and light cannot survive in peace
Souls of the night, bound by years of darkened sins
Sense the power of Light, who walked through the valley of night
Conquoring death and night, freeing the chained souls of the night

Walk with me in pain, hear the whispered pleas, cries in the night
Though the day is bright, night is home to souls of these people
Underground in fear, rage screams at those who scorn and laugh with foolish ideas
Wretched man who are you? If only the world could know the paths Light chose to walk and know

Flesh torn in hatred, a knife to cut and bleed away pain
Cleanse my soul tonight, agony filling my every limb
Scream death, all the night offers is pain to which a sedative is my blood
Drowning out the pain, who’s aware of the tears in the eyes of God?

Souls of the night, the banquet feast
Tied to chains, the souls of men cry in sleepless misery
Marked by bleeding wounds, the night survives
Drowning out the presence of love, veiling the master of Love
For darkness and light cannot survive in peace
Souls of the night, bound by years of darkened sins
Sense the power of Light, who walked through the valley of night
Conquoring death and night, freeing the chained souls of the night

Tortured to the end, blood ran free of a sinless man who knew the pains of the heart
From His blood, the gift of love and life survives the stealer of souls
Merciful, just, intimate understander of the souls who sleep in the night.
Reach for the hand of Love who is Jesus Christ, lover of souls

Souls of the night, the banquet feast
Tied to chains, the souls of men cry in sleepless misery
But now listen to the heart of One
Raising from the grave, the master of Love, unveiling rightiousness
The war within the soul is darkness and Light
Souls of the night, bound by years of darkened sins
Sense the power of Light, who walked through the valley of night
Conquoring death and night, freeing the chained souls of the night

I was very challenged in reading this. I thought that the concept, vision, and story were well done.

Very powerful Andrew. It is dark, as you said, but that makes the contrast between life without Christ and life with Christ even more dramatic. One query in the first verse - the use of the world "unmoarned". I wasn't quite sure what you meant. Was it supposed to be "unmourned"? Anyway, although it wasn't a comfortable read, it certainly was very well written and very powerful in content. With love, Deb
