Deep inhale...Exhale. Yet another night of wrestling ensued.
I walked into the room to find Andrew and Evan wrestling...again tonight. After a little investigation, it was clearly due to something Andrew was teasing Evan about. This was not abnormal. Anything juicy Andrew can wrap his brain around to needle, tease or poke fun after, you can bet he will. He is always looking for an excuse to laugh and enjoy life.
Through the loud sounds of giggling, grunting and staggered breathing, Andrew informed me he was (relentlessly) teasing Evan for breaking up with a girl that he just started dating - just an hour prior. (Apparently "someone" at Oneighty, our churches youth group, told a girl that Evan said he would be her boyfriend when the truth be told, he had not agreed to the union at all. In fact, she was new to Oneighty and he had never spoken to her before.)
Needless to say, in a retaliatory effort, Evan began wrestling & tickling Andrew with fervor.I had to laugh at the comedy of the moment. For a moment, I resisted my motherly urge to ask Evan to clarify if he had handled the situation honorably or if the girls feeling were hurt or had he carefully explained that we typically focus on having good friends. However, I waited long enough to interpret broken communication as Andrew attempted to "sooth" Evans guilt.
Through laughter so hard he could barely breathe, Andrew finally mouthed the words...
"I guessesss yoouu arrre ddoooiiinng betterrr thhaan meee cause I..I..I..I only hhhellld a girlfriend for ½ a reeccess!"
Coming from a twelve year old, I guess that's perspective!
