Christian Living
At sixteen years I was alone
I had no place to call my home
School all day, worked all night
Stole to eat and had to fight
In my car in winter stayed
Hard to sleep, seldom prayed
Suppressed the pain, hid the tears
This went on for many years
One bright spot in life I had
All else around made me sad
To one person I gave my love
I felt she was from up above
At seventeen was college bound
Still alone no peace was found
Night life and parties were the stay
Lived at night, slept all day
One semester then to work
Made mistakes like a jerk
The one I loved away did fly
Many times I longed to die
Then one day to church I went
Testimonies gave and witness spent
About his life a young man did speak
He was alone, his life seemed bleak
How God appeared, his life did heal
To my soul this did appeal
While contemplating this very thought
A light appeared and me it sought
He called my name, my eyes did blind
In my head he spoke and time did bind
You’ll never be alone if you follow me
Your heart will sore, your eyes will see
A repented heart, a new track I sought
Free from fear and the life I fought
He’s now my love and truest friend
He changed her heart and to me did send
Now together in Christ’s love
This match was made from up above
Twenty-five years have passed us by
We live and love, laugh and cry
A child eleven, one eighteen
Life is great, our love still keen
So on we go with God our guide
Taking it all with love in stride
Then one day with God we’ll stand
And rest forever in His hand
