What is more dear to a mother's heart
Than the baby within her womb?
So sweetly she whiles the hours away
In his ruffled, awaiting room.
How tender, how dear her lullaby
Sung by his cradle bed.
Softly she sings of her love for him
And strokes his downy head.
What is more gentle than her embrace
As she kisses away his pain,
Then sends her little man outside
To conquer his world again?
And what brings more pride to her loving heart,
More smiles upon her face,
Than when her son, though weary and worn,
Keeps running... and wins the race!
But sorrow, too, shall fill her breast
As she watches his young heart ache.
For trials, injustice and cruelty will come...
And that mother's heart will break.
How devoted, how enduring is a mother's love!
For she would gladly give her life
To ease his burdens, woes and cares...
Love is perfect in sacrifice!
Yet wisdom indwells her wounded heart
As she tenderly cuts the cord
And places her son into the hands
Of Jesus Christ her Lord...
For He alone can give her son
Salvation full and free!
A few short years he belongs to her
But to Him... an Eternity!
Now joy and peace belong to her
As she watches her son grow strong
And he takes a wife to walk with him...
Together they'll sing life's song!
O what is more dear to a mother's heart
If not her precious son!
She will gladly love him all her days...
And the mother's work is done.

This is just so Beautiful!! You have captured the many heart felt emotions a mother experiences. the one verse that captured my heart.....
"Yet wisdom indwells her wounded heart
As she tenderly cuts the cord
And places her son into the hands
Of Jesus Christ her Lord..."
When we have to let our children go.. giving them over to another's care, there are no better hands than those of Jesus.
