A cloud of witnesses surrounds us
As our race we patiently run.
By faith we hear them crying aloud,
"Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Son!"
Jesus bore His cross with patience,
Scorning all its shame,
Til He sat down at His Father's side
With victory in His Name.
So we'll run our race with patience
Til the Crown of Life is won.
What joy 'twill be to hear Him say,
"Well done, my child, well done."
We'll join the throng of runners
Whom the world was not worthy of,
As memories of our painful race
Melt away in His Kingdom of Love.
We'll come to the heavenly Jerusalem,
The city of the living God,
To whom thousands and thousands of angels
Give glory, honor and laud.
We'll come to the Church of the Firstborn
Made perfect by the great I AM;
Partakers of a better covenant,
Sealed with the blood of the Lamb.
So run, runner, run
This race for eternal joy!
What prize awaits you there?
Jesus Christ, the King of Glory!
This poem is based on Hebrews 12.
