Are you struggling to get rid of unwanted pimples or do they just keep popping up all over your face? I'm sure it's not much of a comfort to realize that acne is a very common skin problem and you are not alone. But today is a good time to be alive as far as having the help you need available to you because of modern medical research.
If you're suffering from acne, you need help and you want it now! It's embarrassing having ugly pimples all over your face. And trying to get rid of them by squeezing and scratching them just spreads them and causes ugly scars.
But you need knowledge of your opponent so that you can know what to do to fight it. In the case of acne, it's helpful to realize that it is a common skin disease involving plugged up pores of the skin. The sebaceous glands produce oil that's supposed to pass through the pores of the skin to the outside instead of accumulating within the pores. The plugged up pores become infected -- which causes pimples.
The goal is to get the pores unplugged. So avoid smearing products on your face that will plug them up even more. That means you should avoid greasy makeup that may cover your acne for the moment but will just produce more pimples.
Acne afflicts teenagers and adults alike. People all over the world suffer with it. But there can be a genetic basis to a number of people suffering with it worse than others. If your father and mother had acne, you may have it too. Although acne begins at puberty because of hormones, it doesn't necessarily go away when one becomes an adult.
There are quite a few products on the market to treat acne, but just because one medication works for some people does not mean that it will work for you. You'll need to experiment if you want to find one that helps you.
Different acne products specialize in treating different aspects of acne. Some products are very drying and help people who respond well to having the pimples dried up. Others don't respond well to that treatment at all. Some products are very good at unplugging the pores, but again, they might not work for everyone. You need to try a product and see if it works. But if it doesn't work, try another one. Just be sure to give each product you try a fair trial and use it regularly before you decide that it doesn't work. But if it really doesn't work, then you need to try another product. Obviously, this requires patience and persistence.
It's very discouraging after fighting with acne for a long period of time to be left with disfiguring scars. But even scarring can be improved with today's acne scar treatments. One of the newest and most promising for acne sufferers is acne laser treatment. It's quite efficient at removing old scars and exposing new skin to give you a fresh start with your complexion.
Other than purchasing products, there's a lot you can do to help yourself to clearer skin. Keep your face really clean and drink lots of water. Avoid junk foods and eat healthy foods instead. Get enough sleep and be sure to exercise regularly. Drink lots of water. If you practice healthy habits, you will reap the benefits of having healthier skin.
It's hard fighting acne, but it's worth it to win in the end. You'll be rewarded when you look in the mirror.
