Why do we need the Gospel,
To be so clearly taught?
Or why is it so important
That we tell it like we ought?
Will we have THE ONLY MESSAGE
For a sin sick weary heart,
Whereby they can find forgiveness,
And receive a brand new start.
No it’s not the modern message,
Of prosperity and wealth,
And it’s certainly not the promise
That you’ll enjoy good health.
It is that you’re a sinner and
That you’re on your way to hell,*
That the wages of your sin is death,**
That’s what we need to tell.
It is that there’s no work of righteousness
That you and I can do,
But according to His Mercy,
Is the way that He’ll save you.***
It is that while we were yet still sinners,
Christ Jesus Died for all,****
And that He will save whosoever
Upon His Name will call.*****
There’s a lost and dying world out there,
Headed into a “Christless eternity,”
And we have THE ONLY MESSAGE,
That can truly set them free.
So take the Gospel into your world,
Don’t worry if it’s not a hit.
Just be faithful in sharing it,
Without changing it one bit.
For God will do the changing
Of that sin sick weary heart,
But you will hear
“Well done faithful servant,”
If you have done your part.

For the wages of sin is death; but the Gift Of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
