Who told us what life would bring to us
Did anyone write what lied ahead
For from a child, a teen, came low esteem
then once an adult, it somehow spread
Often times a small child suffered
not even knowing the reason why
For abuse was often hidden, behind closed doors
and there was no one, who heard them cry
So as a teen they grew up in silence
fearing to reveal the hurts inside
Then they carried it over into adulthood
and then the cycle again did ride
It's hard to mend back, damaged goods
when the heart has closed it's door
But God is able to mend what was done
and release the hurts, so he can restore
So no matter what transpired, in one's life
and regardless of whom it came through
He can heal your broken heart, if when you learn
to forgive
for that is where it begins, first with you
And then God takes, the damaged goods
mold and shape it for his use
And he will make you to shine, in his own time
and help you get pass the hurts and abuse
It can come in many forms, shapes and sizes
And it has no color, culture or name
But it leaves a mark, on whoever it may be
even if all, situations, are not the same
