My family. Most of us are great avoiders, averters, and escape artists. We are wonderful smoother-overers(is that a word?). We are innocents, often deliberately. We always hope for and believe the best, yet we often face the worst.
Like moles are we. Moles exist in their peaceful little underground domain, occasionally poking their little heads up through the ground to look around. They, perhaps, hope and pray that this day is not the day the lawnmower is running, that the lawnmower is safely parked across the yard, and not perched directly above them as they emerge. With those evil blades whirring no less.
Yes, once in a while, we have to poke our heads out. In spite of the dangers and troubles we may find when we do. We must face our 'lawnmowers'. This can be very difficult. There is always something in our way, or heading in our direction. Yet, if we look behind us, we will see many things we didn't even know were there because Our God removed them first. They missed us completely. And, we see things that we have been safely brought through; we are reminded that He is with us in all things.
He spares us; then He hands us something new, something unexpected to challenge us. How else can we learn and grow in our lives? What better way could He use to teach us?
Thank God for your lawnmowers, yes, even the ones that 'mow' you down on occasion. You are being made mighty!
