The roads have gotten rough,
The going was tough,
The storms have come,
And the winds have blown,
But I can say I am still holding on.
People talked about me,
Told me that I was on my way,
My destination was trouble,
Times were hard for me,
The path that I thought was green,
The grass began to fade,
In spite of it all,
I can say I am still holding on.
Sometimes along the way,
I wanted to give up,
Throw in the towel,
And leave it all behind,
I kept holding on.
I remembered that I had made a vow,
That no matter what storms blew,
I would hold on,
I was going to hang in there,
I remember saying,
When I stumble I can’t fall,
My Fathers name I will call.
So keep holding on.
I am trying to reach my goal,
The way gets hard sometimes,
And the roads are sometimes dark,
The clouds seem so low,
Everyday the Father lets me know,
That if I hold on to the faith,
He will carry me in the time of trouble,
One day with Him is like a thousand,
Harm may come my way,
I may run out of words to say,
But He will continue to keep me safe.
