Lord, thank you for breaking me;
for bringing me to the point in my life
where all I have is you.
All of my tomorrows depend on you,
and you alone.
But there have been so many yesterdays
when I depended entirely on myself.
I came to you many times,
begging you to take away all the pain and hurt.
It wasn’t until today that I realized
that it was I who put them there.
In exchange for my impatience,
you gave me love.
In exchange for my anger,
you gave me your patience.
In exchange for my worries,
you gave me your open arms.
My vision has been clouded so many times,
because of doubt,
that I forgot who you were.
Then, when I looked up through the tears,
I could see you clearly standing there,
with those same open arms
that were nailed to that cruel cross.
You saw me with the same eyes
that shed thousands of tears for my soul.
You loved me with the same heart
that was broken because of my sins.
And now you hold me with the embrace
of a Father, a friend, a Savior.
