WHY SHOULD WE?

Why should we take the gospel outside the church walls?

1. It is a command of the Lord Jesus Christ. He said in Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Jesus said go, not to sit in the church waiting for people to enter. The world begins with our neighbourhood. Not to obey that command of Jesus is disobedience.

2. Unless we take the gospel, people will perish. They will go to a lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). Only God can save them, but we are instructed to take the message.

3. It is not the will of God that they perish, as per 2 Peter 3:9

4. Another command of Jesus is that we love our neighbour as ourselves. How can we love our neighbour and not inform them of the Good News? Again, it is disobedience not to do so.

“SO HOW DO I DO IT?”

Surely you agree by now, dear reader, with the necessity of spreading the gospel, but how will you do it?

By whatever means God gives you. Maybe you tremble at the thought of beginning a dialogue with someone. Well, giving a tract is easy as sitting down for dinner.

Pray before you begin. Then use a tract that has a “hook” as a first page – having nothing on the front about God or Jesus. Simply say “Hi. I’m giving these out today, it’s free and non-commercial. I’m sure you’ll find it interesting.” I find the best response is when people are meandering, sitting down, or are tourists. Also give a tract when you buy something from a shop.

If they take it, you’ve succeeded –probably they will read it, and you’ve got the gospel message in their hands. If they refuse, you have lost nothing. “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” The more tracts you give, the more you’ll grow in confidence.

Make sure your tract does not contain a watered-down gospel, and states the basics. Make sure it tells them without Jesus as Saviour they are lost for eternity and will not be in heaven.

If you are still too timid to approach people, leave your tracts in public places – phone boxes, on seats, car windscreens, in letterboxes. God will honour your commitment, though you may not see the results.

Make your own tracts on the computer, then photocopy them. Contact me at the email address below and I’ll mail you one or two of mine you can copy.

One thing I’ve learned from experience. When you embark on this, all the promises of God in the Bible are backing you, because you are in the will of God. It is only in taking action that you’ll realize His promises are true.

Some of those promises are in the following: take the time to read them:, Matthew 28:20, 2 Timothy 1:7, James 4:7, 1 John 4:4, Isaiah 41:10.
