God knew
That your heart would be strong and sincere.
He knew that your love
Would outweigh normal fear.
God knew
That inside you possess what it takes
to surrender, to conquer,
to protect at risk stakes.
God knew
That the hardships
would only strengthen your need
to be understanding and genuine
in thought and in deed.
God knew
that these qualities would be passed on to me,
that I too, would need courage
for what my future would see.
So to Him I give praise
for making me part of you
and for peace we can rest on,
assured that
God knew.
