This is short extract from my late husband's LENT READINGS 2004. Today is the feast of the transfiguration so I thought it would be good to post it for others to share. Irene Cretchley
CHRIST TRANSFIGURED
Luke 9.28 – 36; Matthew 17.1-13
TRANSFIGURATION
Emily: “Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? – every, every minute?”
Stage manager: “No. The saints and poets, maybe – they do some.”
From “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder
"The mind cannot conceive a way,
Neither can comparisons portray.
But if I thought it possible a little to succeed
I would write a thousand foolish things
That one might seed and stay."
St.Teresa of Avila: paraphrased from “The Interior Castle”
Peter, on the mountain,
Transfiguration blinded,
Was moved in his simplicity
To raise up tabernacles to the sight.
We all would seek a way to stay delight.

tabernacles raised to sight ... such temptation to our busy hands, so eager to build God's work ... yet stumbling blocks, each and every one ... needing raised, that the uncut cornerstone of God's delight would consume our every thought
God Bless, Irene, and thanks again for sharing more of your husband's journey into knowing His Father so well...
