Healing
He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses , so we could be free!
Who his own self bore our sins on his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2: 24
He does not say you are going to be healed. It says, you were healed. If you were healed, that means you are well. The circumstances may say you are sick, but God's Word says you are well. You have the choice of either agreeing with God's Word, or agreeing with the circumstances. Whichever one you agree with is the one that will work on your behalf. Some people may asked! What does it really to say that by His stripes we were healed? When Jesus was arrested in the garden
of Gethsemane, He was taken into custody of Sanhedrin council. This was Jewish high tribunal.
They took Jesus into custody because they did not like what He was doing. He was doing too many things that contradicted their traditions, and when you go against some people's tradition you have to pay for it. The Jew at that time were under the rulership of the Romans Empire, and
the Jew could execute anyone. Therefore, they brought Jesus to the governor, Pontius Pilate, with different type of charges in order to get executed. When Jesus was in custody, Pontius Pilate asked him some questions, and Jesus did not answer. The only time Jesus answered him is when Pilate said, you know I have to power to crucify you and to set you free; Jesus said, you have no power over me except permission is given to you from above.
Pilate looked at him and keep quiet. Pontius Pilate had some of his soldiers take Jesus, and they did to Him what the Bible calls "scourging" In Romans Empire, "scourging" is whipping. You will be put on your knees, stretch your hands out in front of you, and lay you back even with the ceiling. A scourge is a leather thongs, with little balls of lead that had crushed glass in them tied to the end of the thongs. They will not only whip him but drag the leather across his back. The little lead balls with the crushed glass would rip and tear the person's back apart. They laid thirty-nine stripes upon Jesus. With Jesus lashes, back bleeding, ripped and torn back, nailed to the cross. God saw the sickness and disease of mankind to the back of Jesus. All the torture was placed upon His body and He was made sick with every disease at the same time, so that you could be free.
