Psalm 78:16
“He brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like
rivers.” NIV
Waterfalls are some of my favorite photography objects! They are simply one
of God’s creations that amaze me.
We recently went to the western tip of North Carolina to hunt for waterfalls
that are abundant in that area. Some of the waterfalls were easily accessible
by short walks from the parking lot, others were visible right from the car.
There were many we did not attempt to go to simply because the trail was
too long or steep.
Some waterfalls are not as high as others, some are more forceful…but all
are beautiful! When it rains, it creates a stronger water current dropping over
the falls with the increase in water supply.
If you’ve ever been to Niagra Falls you understand when I say you are
mesmerized by the strength and power of the falls! It’s simply mind boggling
to think of the amount of water that flows over it in a single day!
Our God is such a creative God! He made things on this earth for a purpose
and had perfect plans behind everything He did. I am so glad He created
these waterfalls for us to enjoy!
Sometimes I think about how long these waterfalls have been in existence
and how long they will be around for years to come! They need a water
source in order to exist. There were a couple of falls we saw off the Blue
Ridge Parkway in North Carolina that were dried up. They had no current
water source. They weren’t “linked” to a main supply.
That’s the way I see Jesus. He’s our “link” to everlasting life. He’s our main
source of existence. Our Living Water supply. We will always be full to
overflowing as long as we are connected with Him!
Psalm 78:20
”When he struck the rock, water gushed out, and streams flowed
abundantly.” NIV
When we branch off and try to make it on our own, it doesn’t take long for us
to discover that we dry up so quickly without the Savior! We need His
strength, His power, His everlasting supply of Life on a daily basis.
Some of the waterfalls we saw will be in existence until the end of the world
as we know it!
When Jesus comes, how will we be found? Will we be that tiny branch
struggling to flow through life, soon to be dried up forever? Or will we be
found connected to the source of Living Water, flowing strong, free and
forever?
Will we follow Him through the gorges and valleys of life, with power and
confidence? Or will we trickle along, barely able to find our way over the
boulders in our path? The choice is up to us. Every day….
Revelation 22:1
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” NIV
