The beauty of suffering
Is not easy to comprehend
We don’t like it when we bend
To form a shape to suit his need
But things must sometimes be
For purposes we cannot see
A greater entrance through the gate
Goes to those who have such fate
Than those of ordinary life
Having no reward for strife
Whose joyous life is renown
Everywhere their feet have trod
Plain women and men of God
That have never borne the rod
Of disgrace, pain and shame
Like the very Son of God
