What's New
Pharisees in the Pews

When I walked the earth as a Man, I was well-acquainted with Pharisees and their ways. They would keep to themselves in their own private little cliques. Pharisees would invite not their humbler, more ignorant neighbors to dine with them, but their own kind. They made long the tassels on their princely garments and enlarged their phylacteries so all the world could behold their supposed righteousness.

Pharisees would spend endless hours quibbling with one another over minute points of the Law. But what use did they make of this long study they made boring by their own deadness? Did they go out with a shining face and tell everyone how wonderful I was, and how they could find favor and peace with their Creator? No. The purpose of their hair-splitting study was to convert others to their own mindset and make them twice the son of hell as themselves. Their goal was to reassure themselves that they really WERE much holier than the ordinary Israelite on the street. Instead of leading a less learned soul into a greater Light, the Pharisees would use My Word to lambast the "less spiritual" Jew or Gentile as being little better than a dog and unfit to grace their presence, much less to appear before My own.

What do I see today, but cliques of people boasting that they spend ALL their free time learning about the "deeper life", and warning other believers that unless they share the same vision of My Word, they will miss out with Me? There is a place for allegorical interpretation in certain areas of My Word, but that is to speak to you of the hidden beauties of My Love toward you, much like a man and his espoused fiancée might have their own precious secrets with each other, and their own endearing names for one another. Deeper truths of My Love are hidden from unconverted individuals and from carnal nominal believers, but any true revelation of My Son's nature will only motivate you all the more to want to go out and share with others how wonderful I am. Yet the reverse is true in many cases. I see believers hiding away in their own little study cloisters and when they do come forth, it is only to share with other intellectual believers "their latest revelation" to gain still more respect among them. Truly I say to you, they already have their reward.

While the Pharisees of Israel patted themselves on the back celebrating their own perceived piety and superiority, the widows went unfed and the orphans were uncared for. People lived and died in ignorance of My ways, without hope and without faith. The Pharisees fiddled with their parchments while Rome burned houses, violated women, and burdened My people with grievously heavy taxes. They generally made no effort to offer aid and comfort to people less fortunate than themselves, and when they did, it was only a token show of sham righteousness to advertise their own goodness, much like a modern politician who makes a “nice gesture” to get a “photo op”.

And so it is today. Instead of seeking to fill the pews with people who come to seek a word of encouragement and love from My heart, today's Pharisees are only POLISHING the pews to fill them with theologically superior hair-splitters like themselves. People who make a show of crying at the altar to show that they are humbler than the rest, just like the Pharisees would put on a sad face to impress others with their piety.

My people, do not fiddle with trivialities and squabble amongst yourselves about who is the holiest and fairest of them all while multitudes are dying and going to hell without Christ. Don't just study about the Light, but BE a Light, a bright and shining Light in the midst of a wicked and perverse generation. And never let some self-righteous Pharisee condemn YOU for the fact you live in such a generation, and tell you that you ought to perpetually mourn over your own faults and failings in order to seem more righteous in My sight. These holier-than-thous rob My people of their God-given joy when My people ought to be allowed to rest in My own righteousness. I behold you not as guilty, but as spotless and blameless in My Holy Son. I am about to call you out of this world into My glorious Presence.

Did I castigate Noah for personal sin because the rest of the world was about to perish? No, I acknowledged his faith and the righteousness which sprang from his faith in Me. I did not blame Noah for the fact others were unjust but I did tell Noah to preach righteousness out of concern for his lost neighbors. He was not to blame for the fact none of his neighbors responded, and he took only seven other souls onto the Ark with him. Noah remained righteous in My sight through faith. Never let any sour-faced Pharisees lay the blame for society's ills upon you, or tell you you must do the repenting for them. Keep your own slate clean with Me through faithfully examining your own heart and being washed in the Blood of My Son, and you will forever be accounted as righteous in My sight.
