It is placing that star atop the Christmas tree, the light shining bright and the beauty of it captivating, that one holds their breath…trying to capture the meaning of it. Is it the fact that God promised His son to us? Is it the idea that Jesus was the light of the world…still is if you allow Him to be? Or is it simply something more than we can possibly imagine?
Over a period of time, I have come to realize, in my own heart, that the star we gingerly place atop the tree signifies the light that God left for us here on earth…a light we have been asked to keep safe in our hearts.
There is so much in this world that tries to rob us of truth until the very stars in the sky are tainted by whispered lies and unshed tears. It comes to the point that we find no beauty in what hangs so delicately in the black sky, lit by the very fingertips of our Lord and Father in Heaven. An enemy walks among us with his own truth that easily deceives the heart of a woman, whispering so cunningly, “You my dear, are not a beauty…you are not a light for this world to see. You are not as the stars in the heavens…captivating hearts of mean and women among you. You are far from ever shining bright.”
So I climb the ladder with the prickly fingers of the Christmas tree catching my sleeves, and I balance ever-so-carefully to lean up and place the star in its rightful place. There is nothing special about the ornament sitting on its throne…higher than all the other ornaments. It isn’t until I plug it in that light springs forth and warms all that look upon it.
In the heart of each woman who has ever walked the earth, there is a star within her heart. Some walk all their lives never plugging it in, because they believe the whispered lies they hear when they walk too far into the shadows. Then, there are a few that are fortunate to understand that light only comes when plugged in…when they understand…when they refuse to listen to lies…and when they realize the star is right there inside their heart. He is right there…
There was once a time when I never realized how beautiful I was. I didn’t realize I had light within me that my Father in heaven had placed inside for others to see. It was when I heard Him whisper, “You are beautiful, my dear,” that I found the courage to believe and shine bright.
It is on such a holiday when a woman should be most able to hear her father’s whisper, calling her to beauty, whispering such words of great love and admiration, saying gently, “You captivate me. I appreciate your heart…and I love you more than you could ever know. Do you know that?”
No matter what has ever happened to you, know this: You are a true star, a daughter of the King, who has the ability within her to shine bright…and show all around her how wonderful and magnificent is her King…
“You my dear, are beautiful…and you are a light.”
