[Jesus is sitting by the well (scripture says on) – he looks tired, can fan himself]
[The woman enters carrying the water vessel]
Jesus: Give me drink.
Woman: Why does a Jew ask me, a Samaritan woman for drink because the Jews will not have any dealings with Samaritans?
Jesus: If you understood the gift of God and who I Am, you would not need to ask – you would be asking from Him and He would give you living water.
Woman: Sir, you do not have anything to draw water with and the well is deep – so how is it you have living water? Are you greater than father Jacob who gave us this well and drank from it himself and his children and his cattle?
Jesus: Whoever drinks water from this well [Jesus points to the well], will thirst again. But whoever drinks of the water I give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Woman: Sir, give me this water, that I shall not thirst nor have to draw again.
Jesus: Go and get your husband and come back.
Woman: I have no husband.
Jesus: Your answer is true, you don’t have a husband because you have had 5 husbands and the one you are living with is not your husband – so you have been honest.
Woman: Sir, I think you are a prophet.
[The woman leaves her water pot and exits].
[Woman turns to the audience and begins to speak.]
Woman: Come and hear this man by the well – he told me all the things that I ever did – is this not the Christ?
Man: Now many of us believe, not because of what you said, because we have heard for ourselves and know this is the Christ, the Savior of the world.
the end.
